14% of Bulgarian cars without a MTPL insurance

3 October 2013 —
trafic_sofia86% of the vehicles registered in Bulgaria have valid third-party liability vehicle insurance. 14% of the vehicles, however, do not have the obligatory insurance but are still in motion, the press office of the Financial Supervision Commission announced for FOCUS News Agency.

The scope of the third-party liability vehicle insurance is now monitored in real time and if a concrete vehicle does not have a contract for this insurance, or the contract was terminated and not renewed, the owner of the vehicle is immediately sent a notification. After the notification is received the driver has a fourteen-day deadline to present evidence for the presence of an active insurance authority.
