ARMENIA: Armenian insurance companies pay 1.1 billion drams in taxes for first half

Eight Armenian insurance companies appeared among 1,000 largest corporate taxpayers in the first six months of the year having paid 1.1 billion drams of various taxes, according to the State Tax Service of Armenia, which said also 95.2%, or 1 billion drams were direct taxes. Overall, insurance companies accounted for only 0.4% of all taxes paid by the 1000 largest corporate taxpayers.

The leading five insurance companies by size of paid taxes were Ingo-Armenia (225.9 million drams), Rosgosstrakh-Armenia (over 222.4 million drams), Nairi Insurance (186 drams), Reso and Cascade Insurance (144. 9 and 94.2 million drams respectively).

The 1,000 largest taxpayers paid in the first half of 2012 more than 261.9 billion drams in various taxes, against more than 232.5 billion drams in the first half of 2011. ($1-407.60 drams).
