AZERBAIJAN: Monthly premiums on compulsory health insurance to reach 8 manat

Compulsory health insurance (CHI) will cost the Azerbaijani population within 150 manat per year. Parliamentary Social Policy Committee's deputy head Musa Guliyev has stated that CHI will be introduced in the country stage by stage, starting with a few pilot regions.

"At primary stage the list of diseases covered by the CHI will include relatively mild illnesses associated with cold, infection and emergency surgery, and more severe diseases will be included at the second stage," Guliyev said.

He points out that the country can form a normal system of health insurance if for every working citizen it will cost on average 100 manat a year (or 8 manat per month) and 150 manat for employers.
