AZERBAIJAN introduces practice of compulsory insurance for tourists

8 April 2015 —
Azerbaijan's Minister of Culture and Tourism, Abulfas Garayev, said that the Ministry has already completed the work on the new draft law "On tourism" and submitted it to the Cabinet of Ministers for consideration.

"The new draft law also provides for measures on protection of tourists in case of a company going bankrupt. By the way, so far such incidents haven't been recorded in Azerbaijan, as travel companies are issued with tourism licenses only after their activity is thoroughly checked. The law also provides for introduction of compulsory insurance for tourists. The existing legislation doesn't have such requirements," abc.az cited the minister.
The draft law is expected to be discussed in the spring or autumn session of 2015.
