AZERBAIJAN: the rules for control over calculation and payment of insurance premiums on compulsory health insurance to come into force on January 1, 2024

8 October 2020 — Marina MAGNAVAL
On October 5, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution to approve the rules for control over calculation and payments of insurance premiums under compulsory health insurance (CHI). The process of paying insurance premiums by the insured under CHI has been postponed until January 1, 2024.

Control over the calculation and payment of insurance premiums is performed by the State Agency for Compulsory Health Insurance through the database on compulsory health insurance.

According to the document, the annual rate of premiums for the insured is set at 48% of the minimal monthly salary and is paid to the compulsory health insurance fund by January 15 for each calendar year. In case of non-payment of insurance premiums, except for primary health care, emergency and urgent medical care, the insured may get medical services within the service package at their own expense.
