Dutch insurer Achmea announced that Michiel DELFOS will be appointed as a member of the Executive Board and Chief Risk Officer with effect from 12 April 2022. "He fills the vacancy that arose after Henk TIMMER recently stepped down. (...) Michiel's appointment will be discussed during Achmea's General Meeting on 12 April 2022".

Michiel DELFOS joined Achmea in early 2014 as director of Property & Casualty insurance. In October 2015 he became chairman of the Non-life division.

Michiel DELFOS had previously held various management and board positions at Delta Lloyd and ABN AMRO Verzekeringen. He studied International Economic Law at Leiden University.

The new composition of the Executive Board of Achmea will comprise Bianca TETTEROO (chair), Michel LAMIE (vice-chair and CFO), Michiel DELFOS (CRO), Daphne de KLUIS, Robert OTTO and Lidwien SUUR.

Michiel DELFOS's appointment has been approved by De Nederlandsche Bank and has received favourable advice from the central works council.
