Aegon appoints Astrid Jaekel as Chief Risk Officer

Astrid Jaekel (44, German) will be appointed as Chief Risk Officer (CRO) and member of the Management Board of Aegon N.V. effective March 1, 2022, the Dutch insurer announced. She will manage the Group's risk and actuarial functions, maintaining the Group's Risk Management framework.

Astrid Jaekel joins Aegon from the international management consultancy firm Oliver Wyman where she has been a partner in the European Insurance and Asset Management Practice, co-leader of the European Insurance Financial Effectiveness team as well as a member of the Board of Oliver Wyman's Swiss subsidiary. Her consulting work has focused on high-impact risk, capital, asset liability and investment management topics. She has worked with leading European and global insurers on a broad range of projects to help transform and optimize their risk, finance, and investment capabilities. This includes the management of market, credit, insurance, and non-financial risks.

Astrid Jaekel holds a PhD in Finance from WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management in Vallendar, Germany. Aegon's previous Chief Risk Officer, Allegra van Hoevell-Patrizi, was appointed CEO of Aegon the Netherlands in June 2021.
