BELARUS: The profit has tripled in the first nine months
During January - September of 2011, the insurance companies in Belarus underwrote premiums worth BYR 1,527.25 (EUR 200 million), about 58% higher than the similar time of 2010. Altogether, the insurance companies paid claims of BYR 879.45 billion (EUR 115 million), 53% higher than in the similar period of 2010, according to the data published by the The Belarusian Association of Insurers.

In the same time, the gross profit in the first nine months of this year for the players in the insurance market was BYR 370.7 billion (EUR 48.5 million), which represents, compared to 3Q 2010, an evolution in European currency of 287%.

On the general insurance segment, the leader of the market is still BELGOSSTRAKH (53.4% market share), followed by TASK (9%) and PromTransInvest (7%). On the life insurance segment, the first position is held by STRAVITA (67.3% market share), followed by SEDYMAIA LINYA (16.2%) and National Belarusian Insurance Pension Fund (14.4%).
