This simplification is owed to the signing of the Multilateral Guarantee Agreement between National Offices on the basis of the registration plate by which BiH adhered to the "License Plate Subsystem" that includes 33 EU member states, as well as Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Andorra, Iceland, Norway and Serbia.
"After many years of preparation and work on establishing and fulfilling criteria and certain standards towards the European Insurers' Community in Brussels, the Green Card Bureau in Bosnia and Herzegovina signed a Multilateral Guarantee Agreement by which Bosnia and Herzegovina became a member of the so-called license plate subsystem," the BiH Green Card Bureau's web page reads.
For a long time, BiH could not be admitted to the "License Plate Subsystem" because the share of unregistered vehicles on its roads exceeded five percent.
