Non-life insurance sector declined by 0.1%, to EUR 130.7 million in January, according to the Croatia's financial regulator, Hanfa. Life insurance decreased by 1.7% on the year, to EUR 22.4 million.
Motor vehicle liability insurance had the largest share, 35.9% of the total non-life premiums paid, followed by insurance of road vehicles (20.2%), health insurance (10%) and insurance against fire and natural disasters (9.4%).
Total claims settled in January stood at EUR 86.7 million, 5.7% less compared to the same period last year. Claims related to life insurance accounted for 28.3% of all settled claims.
It is noted that as of the beginning of 2023, Hanfa started publishing figures on premiums paid instead of gross written premiums (GWP).
