CROATIA: the insurance business in the first two months exceeded EUR 258 million

In the first two months of 2023, 15 insurance companies operating in the Croatian market, collected EUR 258.3 million, of which EUR 48.1 million (18.6%) were generated in life insurance and EUR 210.1 million (81.4%) - in non-life insurance, svijetosiguranja.eu reports with reference to the data from Hanfa (the Croatian financial services supervision agency).

In the structure of the market non-life portfolio, the most represented class is motor vehicle liability insurance (35.1%), followed by road vehicle insurance (17.2%) and fire and natural damage insurance (10.0%).

Total paid claims in the first two months of 2023 reached EUR 172.2 million, which means an increase of 10.7% y-o-y. Of this amount, EUR 71.7 million were paid in life insurance (+10.7%), and EUR 100.5 million - in non-life insurance (+10.7%). In the total amount of non-life paid claims the largest amounts were recorded in motor vehicle liability insurance (43.6%), road vehicle insurance (21.7%), fire and natural damage insurance (5.1%) and other property insurance (9.9%), the source said.
