Consumer protection in the Bulgarian context

3 November 2016 — Daniela GHETU
After being dormant for decades, the Bulgarian insurance and occupational pensions market has finally reached the point of considering consumer protection as a major issue of the financial environment. This will also be the hot topic of the first international conference, organized by the Bulgarian IRSG member at EIOPA and sponsored by Betterfinance, which will take place on 8 November 2016 in Sofia, Bulgaria. XPRIMM Publications support the event as Media Partner.

Representatives of EIOPA, IRSG - The Insurance and Reinsurance Stakeholder Group of EIOPA, SMSG, Betterfinance and national NGOs will shed light on important aspects of consumer protection at national and pan-European level. Special attention will be given to the deficiencies of the national pension system in Bulgaria. Another major issue will be the PEPP proposal which is in EIOPA's pipe-line for some years now.

Since the most important feature of a fairly organized and well developed market is the promotion of transparency, simplicity and fairness in for consumer financial products and services across the EU, participants at the event will gain some first hand information on the recent developments in those areas.

The forthcoming first edition of the conference "Protection of insureds and pensioneers" will try to reach at least some of the essential topics relating to current status and the future of consumers protection.

Attendance to the conference is FREE OF CHARGE for all participants.

All details about the 2016 edition of "Protection of insureds and pensioneers" are to be found at www.irsgbg.alle.bg.
