Croatia: GWP up by 13.2% in the first five months of 2021

The 15 insurers active on the Croatian market in the first five months of 2021 wrote gross premiums worth HRK 5.4 billion (~ EUR 972 million), of which for life insurance HRK 1.4 billion, and HRK 4.0 billion for non-life insurance, latest data from HANFA, the supervisory authority, show.


CROATIA osiguranje end-March net profit increased to EUR 15.5 million

CROATIA osiguranje d.d., one of the largest insurance company in Adriatic region, reported unaudited Q1 2021 gross profit of HRK 140.6 million (EUR 18.57 million) vs HRK 120.4 million a year before while its net profit increased from HRK 98.3 million in March 2020 to HRK 117.3 million (EUR 15.5 million) representing an increase of 19.4 % y-o-y.


STATISTICS: Croatian insurers' Q1 2021 GWP rise 6.3% y-o-y

The gross written premiums of Croatian insurers rose by 6.29% year-on-year in Q1 2021, to HRK 3.25 billion (~EUR 430 million), according to the quarterly figures published on the website of the Croatian Insurance Bureau.






Croatia: CO Group posted FY2020 net profit of ca. EUR 43.5 million

CROATIA osiguranje Group, one of the largest insurer in the Adriatic Region reported FY2020 consolidated net profit of HRK 327.9 million (ca. EUR 43.5 million), which represents a decrease of 3.4% compared to previous year, as the insurer announced in a statement published on ZSE (Zagreb Stock Exchange) web-site.





Croatian earthquakes caused losses also in the neighboring countries

The 6.4-magnitude earthquake has hit Croatia in 29 December, killing at least seven people and causing severe damage to the town of Petrinja south-east of the capital Zagreb, has also affected the neighboring Bosnia and Serbia, and was felt also in the southern Austria and Hungary.
