Croatian Insurance Bureau, 1Q2012: GWP continued to fall
croatia-statisticsAccording to the data of the Croatian Insurance Bureau, the amount of insurance premiums written in the insurance market over the first quarter of 2012 made up HRK 2.53 billion (EUR 338 million), which was, in local currency, 0.8% less than over the same period last year. At the same time, Croatia's 27 insurers paid claims for the amount of HRK 1.12 billion or 5.34% more than a year ago.

The contraction of the insurance market was mainly determined by the decline in the amount of written non-life premiums of 1.6% to HRK 1.96 billion. Motor hull volumes declined the most - the amount of written premiums of this class of insurance declined, compared to the first quarter of 2011, by almost 7%.

Life insurance market developed in the opposite direction in the beginning of this year: GWP amounted to HRK 573 million or 2% more than during the same period last year.
