22 September 2016 — Daniela GHETU
EIOPA announced a public hearing on its Consultation Paper on draft technical advice on possible delegated acts concerning the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD), which will be held on 23 September 2016 (09:00 to 16:00 h CEST) in Frankfurt. The event will be streamed live on the event page on EIOPAs website.

The objective of the event is to give stakeholders the possibility to comment on EIOPA's draft technical advice on possible delegated acts concerning the Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) and to discuss the policy proposals with representatives of EIOPA and national authorities.

We will be discussing the following main themes:
  • Product Oversight & Governance
  • Conflicts of Interest & Inducements
  • Suitability, Appropriateness and Reporting to customers
Representatives from EIOPA, the European Commission and national authorities will introduce the policy proposals, including the rationale behind them, and will address questions raised by participants at this event.

The European authority is confident that this public hearing will provide a good opportunity for up to 160 stakeholders from the financial services sector, in particular representatives from the insurance industry such as insurers, agents and brokers, consumer representatives and academics to express their views on EIOPA's draft technical advice on possible delegated acts for IDD and will help EIOPA to further develop the policy proposals for its technical advice to the European Commission.

Programme is available here.
