Ervin KOCI heads the Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority

Ervin-KOCIFollowing the Albanian Parliament's approval, Mr. Ervin KOCI was appointed Board Member of the Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority (AFSA), holding the position of the Executive General Director of AFSA.

"Being at the direction of the Albanian Financial Supervisory Authority (AFSA) is a great responsibility and a professional challenge after nearly 20 years of experience holding leadership roles in the fiscal, banking and recently in the legislative sector, and also as member of the Albanian Parliament. The importance of this duty is also related to the supervision and regulation of the financial markets towards the strengthening of the security, transparency and reliability of consumers in these markets, but also in the creation of synergies with all stakeholders, in order to foster the further development of financial markets with direct impact on the economic growth in Albania.

It is a great responsibility also for the fact that Albanian FSA is an institution which plays a substantial role in maintaining the stability of the financial system, which necessarily requires effective functioning of non-bank financial markets, as well as providing stability, promotion and development of these markets, by protecting the interests of the consumer and investor in full compliance with the legislative requirements.

My medium term objective as new director of this institution is to compile a well-defined working program with definite terms, and my work priority will be:
  • Regulation and supervision of financial markets;
  • Development and diversification of products;
  • Institutional development of the Authority turning by creating a more efficient structure to cope with any challenge of the market;
  • Consumer protection and security of capital invested by the investor;
  • Strengthening inter-institutional co-operation and receiving positive experiences from countries that have made progress in the management of financial markets.
Ervin KOCI graduated in 1997, from the University of Tirana, Faculty of Economics, in the Department of Business Administration, where he completed the Master studies in Public Administration. In 2006 he completed his law studies from University of Tirana, Faculty of Law. Since 2015, he is a PhD candidate at the University of Tirana, on the harmonization of the financial and fiscal policies with EU standards.

KOCI has a long-lasting experience in the financial sector, holding leadership roles in public and private sector, as well as in the bank and non-bank financial sector. During the last two legislative parliamentary terms, he has been a member of the Albanian Parliament and also a member of the Economy and Finance Parliamentary Committee.

Ervin KOCI has participated in various scientific conferences as a speaker on different studies such as: privatization of strategic sectors, on foreign investments and the role it plays in the Albanian economy, on the harmonization of the financial and fiscal system with EU countries, as well as on public auditing.
