Former SWISS Re CEO, Stefan LIPPE will return to the insurance industry and he will join the Board of Directors of French insurer AXA in two months. AXA announced that it will hold a shareholder vote on new LIPPE's position on April 25 in Paris.

LIPPE will replace Jacques de CHATEAUVIEU, Chairman of AXA's Supervisory Board, who has decided to resign, to focus on the activities of his own company, JACCAR Holdings.

Stefan LIPPE has decided to step down as Group CEO of SWISS Re in December, 2011. Under Stefan LIPPE's leadership, SWISS Re established a new holding structure in 2011 that is fully aligned with the company's strategic priorities. Three new Business Units have been created under the holding structure: the existing reinsurance business, as well as the two new Business Units, Corporate Solutions and Admin Re.
