KAZAKHSTAN: Total assets of the insurance sector in 2024 grew by 25%

In 2024, the assets of insurance (reinsurance) organizations in Kazakhstan increased by 25.3% to KZT 3.1 trillion (~EUR 5.67 billion). The increase in assets was mainly due to the growth of income from insurance activities, the International Information Agency DKnews.kz reports.

As of January 1, 2025, securities had the largest share in the asset structure (76% or KZT 2.4 trillion), cash and deposits in second-tier banks accounted for 5.3% (KZT 166 billion), and insurance receivables - 4% (KZT 124 billion).

Total liabilities of the insurance sector for 2024 increased by 37% to KZT 2.2 trillion mainly due to the growth of insurance reserves. Insurers' equity capital increased by 4.5% to KZT 945 billion, thanks to the income from insurance activities.

For 2024, net profit in the insurance market amounted to KZT 216.2 billion, mainly due to income from insurance and investment activities, the source added.
