KAZAKHSTAN: both number of registered vehicles and car accidents increased in January-February 2020

The number of vehicles, registered in Kazakhstan during the first two months of 2020, increased by 2.5% y-o-y (to 149,938 units), thus total number of registered passenger vehicles by March 1, 2020, reached 3.8 million units, according to the Kazakhstan's Statistics Committee, Trend reports.

During the January-February period the number of registered car accidents grew by 6.1% y-o-y (to 1,893 cases). By March 1, 2020 total paid claims under MTPL policies amounted to KZT 5.4 billion (~EUR 12.8 million).

Due to the transportation restrictions, introduced in the country to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, experts note that the number of accidents since March has significantly decreased.
