KAZAKHSTAN: compulsory insurance of civil liability of carriers increased by 11.6% in January-July

Compulsory insurance of civil liability of carriers to passengers in Kazakhstan in January-July 2024 amounted to KZT 1.9 billion (~EUR 3.71 million), which is 11.6% more y-o-y. It is noted that a year earlier the segment’s growth was 13.6% (according to calculations by Ranking.kz), Allinsurance.kz writes.

It is noted that the share of carrier civil liability insurance in total compulsory insurance premiums has been decreasing for the 5th year in a row; for January-July 2024, it amounted to 1.2%. At the same time, all carriers in the Republic of Kazakhstan are required to insure their civil liability to passengers.

Paid claims in the carrier compulsory civil liability insurance to passengers are also growing; in January-July 2024, they increased by 30.2%, to KZT 311.6 million (~EUR 0.61 million); a year earlier, there was an increase of more than 1.5 times. At the same time, the share of the segment’s paid claims in total compulsory insurance paid claims amounted to only 0.4%.
