KYRGYZSTAN: It is proposed to postpone introduction of fines for the absence of MTPL policies for six months

It is proposed to postpone introduction of fines for the absence of an MTPL policy in Kyrgyzstan for six months, as reported by the Chairman of the Service for regulation and supervision of the financial market of Kyrgyzstan Marat Pirnazarov, economist.kg writes.

“We plan to make a grain of allowance for citizens and not fine drivers for the absence of MTPL policies for the first six months, limiting it to warnings. Since many drivers may not have time to get an MTPL policy”, the Chairman of the market regulator explained.

According to him, at the moment 1.6 million vehicles are registered in Kyrgyzstan. At the same time, only 108.6 thousand vehicle owners have purchased MTPL, of which 43.5 thousand - for foreign vehicles, 22.5 thousand - for legal entities and 41.8 thousand - for individuals.

According to the Cabinet of Ministers' decree, the fines were to come into effect on January 1, 2025.
