That amount covers losses, including damages caused to property, agricultural crops and vehicles, according to the Association of Latvian Insurers (LAA) as of August 28.
As of August 28, insurers received 9,188 claims for a total of EUR 21 million. At that EUR 9 million have already been paid out to clients (EUR 2 million more than a week ago), thus settling around 5,000 claims or 54% of all received applications.
LAA expects that total number of claims related to the July storm will not increase significantly, but the amount could still increase, as repair works are still ongoing.
