LITHUANIA: Insurance market grows to EUR 365 million in 3Q2011
According to the Insurance Supervisory Commission of the Republic of Lithuania, in the first nine months of this year, the local insurance market, grew by 11.2% to LTL 1.26 billion (EUR 365 million).

Compared to 3Q2010, the non-life insurance market increased by 11.7% to LTL 852.2 million (EUR 246.8 million). Also, non-life insurance accounted for 67.6% of all premiums written in the analyzed period, up from 67.3% a year ago.

At the same time, the life insurance segment expanded by 10.2% to LTL 408.2 million (EUR 118.2 million) - the equivalent to 32.4% of the total insurance market.

Altogether, the insurance companies paid claims of LTL 789 million (EUR 228.5 million), 14% higher than in the similar period of 2010, according to the data published by the Insurance Supervisory Commission of the Republic of Lithuania.
