Stefan JENSEN will be the new CEO of the Turkish branch of MAPFRE. JENSEN replaces Alfredo MUNOZ, who in turn has been appointed assistant general director at MAPFRE INMUEBLES (operations director), replacing Melchor GARCIA.
JENSEN has a degree in Business Administration from Sheffield Hallam University (United Kingdom). He joined the Group in 2001, starting his career at MAPFRE Iberoasistencia, where he was appointed sales and marketing director. He later moved to Florida (United States), where he held several positions until his appointment as regional manager of MAPFRE INSURANCE. In 2013, he moved to Massachusetts as Head of MAPFRE Life Insurance Company, holding that position until January 2016, when he was named senior vice president and regional director in New York, subsequently becoming Business and Clients executive vice president for North America. In September 2018, Stefan was appointed COO (chief operating officer) of MAPFRE Turkey, and in November of this year, he joined the management committee of MAPFRE SIGORTA.
Herlin SUTANTO will lead the Indonesian branch of MAPFRE, ABDA, as the new CEO. SUTANTO replaces Candra GUNAWAN.
SUTANTO holds a Bachelor in Business Administration and Finance from California State University, San Bernardino. He has more than 25 years of experience in the Indonesian banking and insurance sector. He has held positions of responsibility in Citibank, General Electric Money and other companies such as OCBC, Bank Danamon and AIA. In 2014, he joined Cigna Insurance Services, where he has held positions of COO (chief operating officer), Chief Distribution Officer and company CEO until January 2019.
Both appointments will take effect from January 1, 2020. The appointments will be ratified by the governing bodies of the companies in each of the countries, and where applicable, by local regulatory institutions.
