In the first half of the year vehicle owners invested EUR 43.1 million in mandatory motor liability insurance and green card policies. Citizens and companies paid EUR 10.2 million during the period for green card policies, the Insurance Supervision Agency (ASO) informed.

In total almost 351,000 vehicles (passenger and cargo vehicles, buses, motorcycles, tractors, trailers and special vehicles) were insured from January to June this year.

In the first six months, all 12 insurance companies issued over 468,000 insurance policies (including green card) and collected MKD 2.65 billion (EUR 43.1 million). According to the National Insurance Bureau (NBO), motor liability insurance business in 1H2024 grew by 6% y-o-y.

Every third insured vehicle has a green card policy. In the first six months, all 12 insurance companies issued more than 117,000 green card policies.

In is noted that citizens, companies and institutions bought a total of 958,528 vehicle insurance policies in the country and abroad in 2023. At that MKD 5.33 billion (EUR 86.75 million) were invested in motor liability insurance (for driving in the country and abroad) for the entire 2023.
