8 February 2022 —
The pandemic has caused an increase in both interest in life insurance and payments from this type of compensation, said Marcin TARCZYNSKI, an analyst of the Polish Chamber of Insurance, Gazeta Ubezpieczeniowa reports.

"The latest market data refer to the third quarter of 2021 and show that after 9 months in 2021, payments under protection life insurance amounted to (for the period January-September) PLN 5.5 billion (~EUR 1.2 billion*), which is 26.5% higher than the year before", he explained. According to Marcin TARCZYNSKI, the reason is the pandemic and the increased mortality.

He emphasized that by the end of the third quarter of 2021, GWP under protective life insurance amounted to PLN 6.76 billion (~EUR 1.47 billion*), which is more than 14% higher y-o-y. "In addition, during the pandemic, we also observe a large increase in interest in health insurance, which is already used by 3.7 million people in Poland, meaning an increase by 17% y-o-y", Marcin TARCZYNSKI added.
