The World Competitiveness Yearbook for 2022 prepared by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), one of the most famous business schools in the world, included, among other things, quality of road infrastructure in the world. Since 2018, Poland's position in the ranking has been decreasing. This year, the report rated Switzerland, Denmark, and Sweden as the best in terms of road quality, and Venezuela, Mongolia, and Botswana as the worst. 30 European countries were included in the ranking and Poland ranked 26th.
According to the report, 37.3% of Polish roads are in a poor or unsatisfactory condition. Every year, unsatisfactory road condition is one of the causes of road accidents and collisions. In 2021, 11,851 such events were recorded in Poland. The condition of roads can be considered by insurers when assessing the risks for motor insurance and may affect MTPL prices.
