PZU already paid EUR 0.3 million for claims arising from the train crash tragedy of Szczekociny
accident_tren_poloniaThe Polish leading insurer, PZU announced today that PZU Group's companies have so far paid out claims for a total amount exceeding PLN 1.2 million (~EUR 290,000) related to the tragic train crash near Szczekociny, on March 3rd. PZU SA is currently handling 48 cases, while PZU Zycie, the main life insurer of the Group, has registered 43 claims reported by the victims or beneficiaries.

Two trains running on the same track have collided head-on in southern Poland, killing 16 people and injuring 58 in the country's worst train disaster in more than 20 years. The collision occurred after one of the trains ended up on the wrong track. Several of the passengers were foreigners, including people from Ukraine, Spain and France, but none of them were among the dead or mostly seriously injured.

Striving to provide the most efficient service to the victims of the accident, PZU has launched the day after the disaster a special hotline number available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The injured and the victims' beneficiaries may use this number to obtain information and assistance in the investigation of any of claims for damages arising as a result of this event, no matter what kind, and with which they are entitled to insurance benefits. Committed to the cause of the disaster, insurers have established uniform rules for the admission and registration of claims and advance payments for people injured and entitled to protect their most urgent needs of the consequences of an accident.

PZU is actively reaching victims and proposes to report the damage. It has also appealed through the media the injured in train accident to report to PZU, because getting the identification data of these people is difficult for formal reasons.
