POLAND: Insurance Guarantee Fund has a new President

The Council of the Insurance Guarantee Fund of Poland (UFG) unanimously adopted on 19 September 2019 a resolution on the appointment of Malgorzata SLEPOWRONSKA, currently member of the board, as the President of UFG.

POLAND: less than 0.5% of all registered vehicles are not covered by a MTPL policy

According to the Polish Insurance Guarantee Fund's estimations, there may be about 80-90,000 vehicles in use without a valid MTPL policy, which is 0.4 - 0.5% of all registered vehicles. This percentage places Poland among the CEE countries with the highest degree of insurance coverage, together with Slovenia the Czech Republic and Hungary.

PZUW, the mutual insurance arm of the Polish PZU Group, is the second fastest growing mutual insurance company in the world, the latest edition of the Global 500 report prepared by the International Federation of Cooperative Insurance and Mutual Insurance Companies (ICMIF) shows.

STATISTICS: POLAND: Almost EUR 4 billion in GWP after the first quarter

Polish insurers' aggregate GWP was up by 0.6% y-o-y to PLN 16.35 billion (~EUR 3.80 billion) in the first quarter of 2019, financial indicators from the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) showed. Official figures also revealed that the amount of paid claims/indemnities during the period was PLN 10.2 billion, representing a decrease of 2.7% y-o-y.

GENERALI finalized the completion of the transaction with German Group Union Asset Management Holding AG to acquire Union Investment TFI S.A. in Poland. GENERALI has received the required approvals from all relevant regulatory bodies and competition authorities.

Green light for the Generali and Concordia merger in Poland

POLAND: Warta implementing two A.I. projects
