Over the last five years, foreign investors have made large capital infusions to strengthen the financial capacity of insurance companies held in Romania. Thus, in late 2010, the value of the underwritten foreign capital was 8.8 times higher than in early 2006. Thus, the share of foreign capital increased by 42.5 percentage points in the same period, from 49% in 2006 to 91.4% at the end of 2010, up from 88.65% at the end of 2009.
