RUSSIA: RNRC's share in outward reinsurance reached 10% in 2018

In 2018, the share of the Russian National Reinsurance Company (RNRC) in total outward reinsurance of the Russian insurance companies amounted to 10% (vs 7.3% a year ago), according to a report by RNRC.

Based on the regulator's data, in 2018 total outward reinsurance amounted to RUB 115.5 billion (+5.3% y-o-y). Total GWP of RNRC amounted to RUB 12.2 billion, RUB 11.6 billion of which was generated in the domestic market. In 2018, RNRC's share in facultative reinsurance amounted to 12.7%, and reached 7.5% in obligatory.

According to RNRC's report, SOGAZ has the biggest amount of premiums ceded to RNRC -the company ceded RUB 3 billion (10.7% of all outward premiums of SOGAZ)- 2nd goes INGOSSTRAKH (RUB 1.9 billion, 17.1% of the company's total outward premiums), and 3rd is RESO-GARANTIA (RUB 1.1 billion, 19.4%).

RNRC's market share in inward reinsurance in 2018 amounted to 28% (vs 22% a year ago), makes the company a national leader, ASN wrote.
