SERBIA: The insurance market grew by 3% at the end of September
According to the financial indicators published by the National Bank, the total gross written premiums of the 23 insurance companies operating in Serbia rose by an annual pace of 3.0%, to RSD 44.48 billion (EUR 440 million) in the third quarter of 2011.

The share of non-life insurance companies in the total premium income of Serbian insurers was of 84.18% in the third quarter (RSD 37.44 billion), while the life insurance generated RSD 7.04 billion - 15.82% of the total insurance market.

During the analyzed period, insurers from Serbia paid claims worth RSD 17.34 billion, about RSD 710 million more than in January-September 2010. Of this total, more than 55% was generated by motor segment, and about 18% by property insurance.

Top of the insurance companies in Serbia, made by the criterion of gross written premiums volume, indicates on the first position the company DUNAV (28.24% market share), followed by DELTA GENERALI (18.73%) and DDOR (17.88%).
