SLOVENIA: Zavarovalnica Triglav ranks as one of the biggest companies in Central Europe

11 September 2012 —
Zavarovalnica Triglav is one of 17 Slovenian companies included on this year's list of the 500 largest companies in Central Europe. In the category of insurance regions, Zavarovalnica Triglav took sixth place. The classification was prepared by Deloitte - a UK private company which provides auditing and consulting services.

Zavarovalnica Triglav, which ranks sixth in the region, still holds a leading position among Slovenian insurance companies. Triglav and three other Slovenian insurance companies also made it onto Deloitte's list of the 50 largest banks and insurance companies in Central Europe. The company that took top position on this list is the Polish insurance company PZU, with a total of 3.71 billion euros in gross written premiums.

On Deloitte's most recent list, Slovenia is represented by 17 companies (one less than last year), which is equal to 3.4 percent. Most of the companies on the list are involved in the consumer sector and the energy sector. Given the number of Slovenian companies on this list, Slovenia continues to take precedence over the countries in the immediate region, followed by Croatia, which is represented by 12 companies, and Serbia, from which 11 companies made it onto the list of the 500 largest companies in Central Europe. As in previous years, the top position on the CE Top 500 ranking list was taken once again by the largest Polish oil and gas company PKN ORLEN, with sales revenue of 26 billion euros, followed by the Hungarian oil and gas company MOL and the Czech car company Skoda.
