Total GWP in the insurance sector of Armenia for the first half of the year amounted to AMD 41.47 billion (EUR 92 million), which is 7.23% more y-o-y, according to the data of the Financial Rating of Insurance Companies provided to ArmInfo.
It is noteworthy that in euros, the market result was negative (-1.12%) due to a big difference in exchange rates compared to the same period in 2024.
Among the largest insurance classes with double-digit shares in the market GWP portfolio, it is worth noting a decline in health insurance by 4.67% and in overall property insurance by 5.76% in 1H2025. At the same time, motor insurance (MTPL and Motor Hull summed), which generates almost 47% of all premiums, grew by 19.35% to AMD 19.40 billion.
Insurers' paid claims rose 4.34%, amounting to AMD 21.44 billion (EUR 47.57 million) at the end of 1H2025. Among the largest insurance classes, such as motor insurance, health insurance, property insurance, paid claims dropped significantly in property insurance (-91.16%), while in the other two classes they recorded double-digit growth.
ArmInfo notes that the insurance sector of Armenia doubled its net profit in the first half of 2025 y-o-y (vs a 65.3% decline a year ago), ensuring it at the level of AMD 1.95 billion. This was due to a strong slowdown in the annual growth of paid claims and a change in the GWP dynamics from decline to growth.
In terms of net profit, LIGA Insurance (AMD 524.4 million) is the leader among 7 insurance companies on the market in the reporting period, REGO Insurance (AMD 364.9 million) moved up to the second position, pushing Armenia Insurance (AMD 364.7 million) to the third. It is noteworthy that EFES (AMD 7.43 billion) ranked first in terms of GWP, pushing LIGA Insurance (AMD 6.52 billion), which previously held the lead, to the third position, and Nairi Insurance (AMD 7.20 billion) ranked second.
