STATISTICS:  AZERBAIJAN, FY2025: Life insurance records double-digit growth in paid claims

At the end of 2025, Azerbaijani insurance market amounted to AZN 1,504.71 million (EUR 751.53 million), which in local currency is 11.20% more y-o-y, according to data published by the Central Bank of Azerbaijan. At the same time, in euros the market performance was negative (-1.56%).

Voluntary life insurance accounts for almost half (49.94%) of total GWP, having grown by 16.72% by the end of the year. Non-life insurance (voluntary and mandatory summed) accounted for 43.31%.

Total paid claims at the end of last year amounted to AZN 920.40 million, which is 22.28% more y-o-y in AZN. It's worth noting that life insurance recorded double-digit growth in claims (+33.04%), while non-life insurance saw a slight increase of only 2.97%. Among insurance classes with market shares exceeding 2%, medical insurance and immovable property insurance recorded a decline in paid claims.

At the end of 2025, 16 insurers operated in the market. PASHA LIFE firmly held the lead (AZN 679.75 million/EUR 339.50 million), while PASHA Insurance remained in second place (AZN 355.16 million/EUR 177.39 million). Ateshgah Life, as it did the year before, rounded out the top three far ahead of the first two (AZN 112.49 million).
