Bulgarian insurance market reported 3Q 2025 GWP worth BGN 3.94 billion (EUR 2.01 billion), up 12.97% y-o-y, according to the official quarterly figures published by the Financial Supervisory Commission.
Life insurers' GWP increased by 4.95% to BGN 614 million (EUR 313.9 million), while non-life insurers' GWP rose by 14.6% to BGN 3.32 billion (EUR 1.7 billion).
Significantly higher growth rates were recorded in claims expenses terms: overall, the market saw a 26.75% increase in paid claims, strongly driven by the more than doubling volume of claims paid for property insurance (+125% y-o-y) and the almost 29% increase of the paid claims for motor insurance. Total compensations paid amounted to BGN 1.88 billion (EUR 964.3 million). Claims paid for non-life insurance reached BGN 1.58 billion, out of which BGN 1.27 billion for motor insurance and BGN 133.5 million for property insurance.
In GWP terms, Bulstrad Life VIG became the life insurance market leader, with a market share of 29.15%, up by 2 percentage points y-o-y. DZI Life ranked second (28.14% market share, down by 1.5 pp y-o-y), followed by Allianz Bulgaria Life (20.47%).
Euroins ranked first in the non-life sector, with a market share of 12.24% (up from 11% in 3Q 2024). DallBogg: Zhivot I zdrave ranked second (11.8% market share), while Bulstrad VIG completed the Top 3 (11%).
