STATISTICS:  CROATIA, 3Q 2024: claims expenses grew slightly faster GWP, driven by the motor insurance lines

According to data provided by HANFA – the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency, at the end of September 2024 the total premium collected by the local insurers amounted to EUR 1.43 billion, of which EUR 0.25 billion (12.18% y-o-y growth) related to life insurance premium and EUR 1.18 billion (10.6% y-o-y growth) to non-life insurance premium.

The structure of the collected non-life insurance premium is dominated by motor vehicle liability insurance (30.7% of the total market GWP), followed by insurance of land vehicles (15.5%) and property insurance (15.17%) -to which the insurance against fire and natural disasters line and the damages to property line contributed in almost in equal parts.

The amount paid for claims settled in the first nine months of 2024 reached EUR 924.43 million. EUR 337.85 million of this amount is related to life insurance, while EUR 586.6 million related to non-life insurance.

Within the total amount of claims settled in non-life insurance, the largest amounts are related to motor vehicle liability insurance (40.37%), insurance of land vehicles (21.92%), and property insurance (17.63%).

ALLIANZ Hrvatska (16.5% market share), Wiener osiguranje VIG (13.6%) and CROATIA osiguranje (13%) are the Top 3 life insurers. On the non-life side, the Top 3 is formed from CROATIA osiguranje (28.3%), EUROHERC osiguranje (15.3%) and ADRIATIC OSIGURANJE (15.00).
