GWP by the Slovak insurers amounted, according to data provided by the SLASPO - Slovak Insurance Association, to EUR 2.23 billion in the first three quarters of 2024, which is by 9.57% more y-o-y.
With GWP of EUR 834.33 million (up by 5.26% y-o-y), life insurance accounts for close to 37.3% of the total GWP amount. Growth on the non-life side was of 12.47% y-o-y, to GWP of EUR 1.4 billion. The highest contribution to the market growth came from the motor and property insurance lines.
The largest life insurers were: KOOPERATIVA poisťovňa Vienna Insurance Group (28.3% market share), Allianz - Slovenská poisťovňa (18.25%) and Generali Poisťovňa (12.94%).
On the non-life insurance segment, the Top 3 insurers were: Allianz - Slovenská poisťovňa (27.4%), KOOPERATIVA poisťovňa Vienna Insurance Group (22.4%) and Generali Poisťovňa (14.46%).
Since 2021, Generali Poisťovňa operates in Slovakia as a branch of an insurance company from another Member State, namely Generali Ceska pojistovna headquartered in Czechia.
