The insurance market in Ukraine at the end of the third quarter of 2021 recorded an increase of 15.48% y-o-y to UAH 38.07 billion (EUR 1.22 billion). At the same time, paid claims of insurers increased by almost 21% and reached UAH 13.42 billion, as the data published by the National Bank of Ukraine show.

It should be noted that the shares of life and non-life insurance in the market portfolio practically remained at the level of a year earlier, although the growth rates of life insurance were slightly more impressive (+17.20%). Such key insurance classes (in terms of GWP) as medical insurance (+25%), Motor Hull (+28%) and MTPL (almost +11%) saw the highest growth in the market.

The insurers' paid claims for the period reached UAH 13.42 billion, while their biggest portion (about UAH 9.89 billion) fell on voluntary non-life insurance.

The non-life ranking is topped by ARX with a share of 7.38%, while UNIQA and TAS are also in the top-3 in non-life, taking second and third places, respectively. However, in the top five leaders, the highest amount of paid claims belongs to Ukrainian Insurance Group. Among life insurers, the leadership is held by METLife with a 35.58% share in life GWP.
