In 1Q2025, the insurance sector of Uzbekistan grew by 18.81% y-o-y and amounted to UZS 2.63 trillion (EUR 189.12 million), according to data published by the National Agency for Prospective Projects of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

It is worth noting rapid growth of life insurance due to voluntary insurance, which led to an increase in the market share of this segment from 1.69% to 6.53%.

In non-life insurance growth at the end of the first quarter was observed in all classes except credit insurance (-15.41%) and health insurance (-17.86%).

Insurers' paid claims rose by 13.64%, reaching UZS 643.63 billion (EUR 46.28 million). It is worth noting that in life insurance paid claims fell by 10.77%, while in non-life insurance they grew by 15.85%. Some insurance classes recorded a triple-digit increase in paid claims, especially cargo insurance (+596.06%).

The leaders in terms of GWP in non-life insurance are Apex Insurance (UZS 721.25 billion), Uzbekinvest (UZS 290.92 billion) and GROSS SUG‘URTA KOMPANIYASI (UZS 206.61 billion), which moved up from fourth place a year earlier. In life insurance, Apex Life Insurance continues to lead, with its share growing from 44.65% to 86.24%.
