Gross written premiums from non-life insurance grew 4.5% to ALL 7.5 billion, while the life insurance segment earned premiums of ALL 610.5 million, up 6.5%, according to figures published by the Albanian FSA- Financial Supervisory Authority.
Total gross claims paid increased to ALL 2.8 billion as at the end of June, from ALL 2.6 billion a year earlier.
The statistics provided by the Albanian FSA include the financial figures from eight insurance companies operating in the country. The largest insurers in the country in terms of GWP were the two local subsidiaries of Austrian UNIQA. SIGAL LIFE UNIQA was the top life insurer (62% market share), while SIGAL UNIQA ranked first in the non-life insurance ranking - 25.6% market share.
