At the end of 2024, the BiH insurance market totaled EUR 555 million (BAM 1.1 billion), up by 10.3% y-o-y, as the local insurance agency – AZOBIH informed. At the same time, the value of claims paid by insurers expanded by 9.4% y-o-y to EUR 240 million.
The value of GWP of the insurers operating in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina increased by 10.5% to EUR 385 million (69.5% of total GWP), while the Republika Srpska based insurers generated almost EUR 170 million, up by 10% y-o-y.
Overall, of total insurance market, non-life insurance premiums increased by almost 12% year-on-year to EUR 449 million, while premiums in the life insurance segment went up by over 4% y-o-y to EUR 106 million. From the non-life subclasses, EUR 46.7 million (or 8.4%) corresponded to the property lines and EUR 336.5 million (or 60.6%) to motor insurance (MoD and MTPL, summed).
In terms of GWP, the top three largest life insurers in the country were FBiH based insurers Vienna osiguranje (GWP worth EUR 22.70 million), Uniqa osiguranje (EUR 22.6 million) and Grawe osiguranje (EUR 18 million), while ASA Central osiguranje (market share 14.5%), Adriatic osiguranje (11.5%) and Euroherc osiguranje (10.1%) formed the Top 3 on non-life segment.
