STATISTICS: CROATIA 1H2025: GWP up by 8.3%, while claims expenses decreased by 9.2%

The 14 insurance companies operating on the Croatian market collected in 1H2025 GWP worth EUR 1.0 billion, or 8.3% more y-o-y. At the same time, claims paid decreased y-o-y by 9.25%, to EUR 594 million.

Out if the total GWP, EUR 170.9 million (16.55%) refers to life insurance premiums, which is 3.2% less y-o-y, and EUR 861.3 million (83.45%) to non-life insurance premiums, which is 10.9% more on an annual basis.

In the structure of non-life insurance premiums collected, the most represented is motor vehicle liability insurance (35.5%), followed by road vehicle insurance (19.6%), fire and natural disaster insurance (9.1%) and health insurance (8.8%).

Claims paid in 1H 2025 amounted to EUR 594.1 million, which is 9.3% less y-o-y. Of this amount, life insurance accounted for EUR 179.7 million (30.25%), or 30.6% less on an annual basis, and non-life insurance accounted for EUR 414.4 million (69.75%), which is 4.8% more y-o-y.

In the total amount of claims paid in non-life insurance, the largest amounts relate to motor vehicle liability insurance (41.0%), road vehicle insurance (21.6%), health insurance (12.5%), and fire and natural disaster insurance (8.8%).

ALLIANZ Hrvatska led the life insurance segment in 1H, 17.36% market share, followed by Wiener osiguranje Vienna Insurance Group (16.5%) and AGRAM LIFE osiguranje and (12.6%).
On the non-life side, CROATIA osiguranje maintained its leading position (29.14% market share), followed by EUROHERC osiguranje (15.1%) and ADRIATIC OSIGURANJE, (14.54%).
