STATISTICS: Croatian insurers' gross written premiums, up by 3.76% in Q1

The GWP underwritten by Croatian insurers totaled HRK 2.54 billion (EUR 332.34 million) in the first quarter of 2015, up by 3.76% y-o-y, the Croatian Insurance Bureau announced. The value of paid claims by insurers totaled HRK 1.06 billion, 1.22% less y-o-y.

On the non-life segment, the value of GWP fell by 3.77% to HRK 1.72 billion, while the life insurers reported GWP of HRK 820.28 million, 24.12% y-o-y.

CROATIA Osiguranje was the market leader on the life segment (GWP of HRK 210.74 million, 25.69% market share), followed by ALLIANZ Zagreb (21.65%), and UNIQA Osiguranje (11.29%).

CROATIA Osiguranje also led the non-life ranking, accounting for almost 40% of the market share, being followed by ALLIANZ Zagreb (12.36%) and EUROHERC Osiguranje (10.80%).

According to the reported statistics, at the end of March 2015, 25 insurers were activating on the market.

Between 2008 and 2017, the Croatian insurance market saw an 8% decrease in business, in GWP terms.
