The Greek insurers reported gross written premiums of EUR 2.80 billion at the end of September 2017, up by 0.26% y-o-y, according to the nine-months market report published by the Hellenic Association of Insurance Companies (HAIC).

In terms of GWP, the life insurance segment was down by 1.40% y-o-y to EUR 1.37 billion due the 6.28% decrease reported by the traditional life policies to EUR 993 million.

On the other hand, the published figures show that the non-life insurance GWP accounted for 51.06% of the total - EUR 1.43 billion, or 1.91% more y-o-y.

HAIC said the 3Q2017 Report includes figures of 50 insurers or 97.2% in GWP of the total FY2016 market. Of these, 20 were active in life insurance (99.9% market share) and 44 were active in the Non-life segment (94.6% market share).
