STATISTICS: HUNGARIAN insurers' GWP up by 2% in Q1

Hungarian insurance market totaled HUF 236.9 billion (EUR 754 million) at the end of March 2016, 1.84% less y-o-y, according to the statistics published by the Central Bank. The volume of paid claims by insurers remained stable at HUF 126 billion (EUR 400 million).

It is worth mentioning that Q1 2016 figures are not including data of two insurers, because one of them became a branch from January 1 2016, the other one will report the Q1 2016 data after the publication date of timeseries.

The aggregate GWP portfolio was formed by life insurance (43.8% of total) - of which 23% was accounted by unit-linked policies.

As compared with last year, the share of non-life classes in total market increased to 56% - due the positive rates reported on the main sub-segments: motor (+18.9%) and property (+5%).
