STATISTICS: KOSOVO, 1Q2020: The insurance market increased by 2.22% despite the lower number of issued policies
At the end of March 2020, the Kosovo insurance market totaled EUR 21.91 million, 2.22% more y-o-y, the market statistics published by the Central Bank of Kosovo - CBK indicates. During the reported period, claims paid by insurers totaled EUR 12.69 million, up by 17.57% y-o-y.

Note: Presented figures consider only the non-life insurance portfolio, no figures related to the life insurance segment being available.

Per insurance classes, the Motor TPL classes dominated the aggregate GWP portfolio accounting for 54.78% of total. Of this figure, the Domestic Motor TPL policies accounted for 50.50% (or EUR 11.06 million), while the Border policies generated about 4.86% (EUR 0.94 million). Voluntary non-life insurance classes generated 45.22% of total GWP: EUR 9.91 million vs. EUR 9.60 million a year before.

During Q1 2020, Kosovo's insurers issued a total of 197.16 thousand policies vs. 211.90 thousand a year before. Of this total, 82.18 thousand were Domestic Motor TPL policies and 38.25 thousand - Border policies. The remaining 76.72 thousand were related to other voluntary non-life policies.
