STATISTICS: MACEDONIA, 1Q2017: Gross written premiums up by 4.68% y-o-y
At the end of March 2017, the Macedonian insurance market totaled about MKD 2.24 billion (EUR 36.37 million), up by 4.68% y-o-y, according to data provided by the local Insurance Supervision Agency.

Gross written premiums from non-life insurance increased by 3.39% y-o-y to MKD 1.97 billion (about 87.69% of total GWP), while the life insurance segment reported premiums of MKD 276.17 million, 14.88% more y-o-y, official figures show.

At the "claims chapter", Macedonian insurers have paid life and non-life indemnities worth of MKD 809.61 million, of which more than a half (MKD 422.58 million) - related Motor TPL policies.

In terms of GWP, the largest life insurer in the country was the local unit of CROATIA osiguranje (GWP of MKD 119.46 million, 42.26% market share), while the local subsidiary of Slovenian TRIGLAV led the non-life ranking (MKD 349.35, 17.75%).
