STATISTICS: POLAND, 1Q2017: GWP up by 20.5% supported by the MTPL line
Polish insurers ended 1Q2017 with GWP of EUR 3.78 billion, 20.5% up y-o-y, mostly supported by the MTPL line which saw total GWP going up by almost 50%.

Increasing in GWP terms by "only" 7.74% y-o-y, the life insurance segment has lost about 4.5 pp of its weight in the overall portfolio. Yet, it shoould be stressed out that the Unit-Linked insurance line saw a very good dynamic, GWP increasing by over 20% y-o-y.

Both motor insurance lines have recorded significant growth rates: almost 22% for the Motor Hull line and 49% for the MTPL line. At the same time, claims paid for motor insurance segment went up by about 13%.

The property insurance segment also recorded a positive evolution, with GWP increasing by 9%, while benefitting from a rather calm season in what the extreme weather events are concerned, claims paid decreased y-o-y by about 14%.
