STATISTICS: Poland, 3Q2017: Stable results with impressive growth rates in motor classes
At the end of 3Q2017 the Polish insurance market totaled PLN 46.15 billion (EUR 10.70 billion), up by 13.37% y-o-y, as the financial indicators published by the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF) show.

Life GWP amounted to PLN 18.29 billion (EUR 4.25 billion), up by 2.70% y-o-y, representing about 40% of the entire insurance market. Traditional life policies experienced a negative dynamic (-4.92% y-o-y to PLN 5.61 billion), while Unit-Linked products reported a double-digit growth rate: +10.22% to PLN 8.37 billion.

The non-life insurance segment generated a 21.68% increase in GWP (to PLN 27.85 billion / EUR 6.46 billion) - with impressive growth rates in both motor classes (MoD +17.25%, MTPL +34.64%) and stable results on other sub-segments.

KNF statistics also reveal that the amount of paid claims/indemnities during the period was PLN 29.59 billion (EUR 6.87 billion), representing an increase of 9.64% y-o-y.

The life and non-life market rankings as GWP was led by the two PZU units as follows: PZU ZYCIE SA generated 34.82% of the life insurance GWP, while PZU SA held a 33.18% share of the non-life sector.
